Wire Swift Nest Pte. Ltd. ("Wire Swift Nest", "we", "us") operates wireswiftnest.life and the Slate Signal editorial desk. This notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal data when you visit our website, contact the desk, or interact with our published material. We align our practices with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore ("PDPA") and apply the principles of consent, purpose limitation, and reasonable security throughout.

2. Scope
This notice covers personal data processed through: (a) this website and its cookies; (b) email, telephone, and walk-in communications with the desk; (c) editorial intake including tips, corrections challenges, and verification follow-up; (d) employment and contractor relationships where applicable; and (e) CCTV or access logs at our premises where signage indicates recording. It does not govern third-party websites linked from our pages — review their notices separately.
3. Categories of personal data
Depending on interaction, we may process: identity and contact data (name, email, telephone, organisation affiliation); correspondence content and attachments you send; technical data from website visits (browser type, approximate region derived from server logs, pages viewed, referral URL); cookie consent preferences stored locally and in cookies as described on the cookie notice; editorial material that incidentally identifies you in photographs or quotes when published with public-interest justification; and security footage at our shophouse entrance where posted.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data such as health records or financial account numbers through this site. If you voluntarily include such data in unsolicited email, we will minimise retention and delete when no longer needed for the stated purpose unless law requires otherwise.
4. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data for purposes including: operating and securing the website; remembering cookie preferences; responding to desk enquiries and corrections challenges; verifying tips and conducting editorial follow-up; publishing news signals and bulletins where public interest applies; maintaining internal logs for corrections and verification audit; complying with legal obligations and responding to lawful requests from authorities; and protecting our rights in dispute resolution.
Under the PDPA, we rely on consent where required (for example optional functional cookies and non-essential analytics if enabled), deemed consent by notification where applicable for reasonable purposes you would not object to, and legitimate interests for editorial verification, security monitoring, and fraud prevention — balanced against your reasonable expectations. You may withdraw consent for optional processing without affecting essential site operation, though map embeds will not load until functional consent is granted.
5. Collection methods
We collect data directly when you email, telephone, or visit; automatically through server logs and essential cookies; and from public sources when verifying news lines (for example published agency statements that name officials). We do not purchase personal data lists for marketing. We do not operate behavioural advertising networks on this site as of the effective date above.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential cookies maintain security and consent state. Functional cookies, when accepted, allow Google Maps embeds to load. Analytics cookies remain off unless you explicitly enable them in the customise panel. Details appear in the cookie table on the cookie notice. Consent is stored in cookie sg_news_consent_v16 and mirrored in localStorage key cookie_consent_v1 for resilience across sessions, with maximum age of one hundred eighty days before re-prompting.
7. Disclosure and transfers
We may disclose personal data to: hosting and infrastructure providers bound by confidentiality in Singapore; professional advisers under privilege where applicable; courts or regulators when law compels; and translation or technical contractors assisting editorial work under contract. We do not sell personal data.
Google Maps, when loaded with your functional consent, may process technical data under Google's terms. That processing may involve servers outside Singapore. We minimise embed usage to desk location maps only — one embed per page — and do not combine map data with editorial profiling.
8. Retention
Retention periods depend on category: cookie consent records follow the one hundred eighty-day refresh cycle; server logs rotate on a short operational cycle unless security investigation requires longer hold; general desk email is retained while the thread remains active plus a reasonable archive period for corrections audit; published material incorporating personal data remains public while the story stands unless correction or legal review requires amendment; CCTV footage, where used, is retained only for the period stated on premises signage unless incident investigation extends hold.
When retention ends, we delete or anonymise data so individuals are no longer identifiable, except where anonymised aggregates remain in internal statistics.
9. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to a small newsroom: access controls on editorial systems, encrypted transport for web traffic, separation between public website hosting and internal filing systems, and staff training on confidentiality. No method is infallible; report suspected breaches to [email protected] promptly so we can investigate and notify where the PDPA requires.
10. Your PDPA rights
Subject to exceptions in the PDPA, you may request access to personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, withdrawal of consent for optional processing, and information about how we have used or disclosed your data in the past year. Submit requests to [email protected] with sufficient detail to verify identity. We respond within reasonable timeframes prescribed by law. A reasonable fee may apply to manifestly unfounded or excessive access requests.
If you believe we have not handled your data fairly, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore after attempting resolution with us.
11. Children
This site is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the website. Editorial coverage of youth-related community events may describe programmes without naming minors unless already public and justified under ground rules. 12. Editorial publication and privacy
News signals and bulletins may include names, roles, and locations of persons already in the public sphere — officials on duty, court listings, organisers of public events. Private individuals appear only when public interest clearly outweighs privacy, consistent with ground rules. If you believe published material unlawfully intrudes on your privacy, contact [email protected] with specifics; we assess under PDPA and editorial policy, which may result in correction, amendment, or removal of unlawfully private detail while preserving accurate public record where possible.
13. Marketing communications
We do not send bulk marketing email to casual website visitors. Occasional desk notices to voluntary subscribers who contacted us requesting lane updates are operational, not promotional, and include opt-out on reply. We do not share subscriber lists externally.
14. Automated decision-making
We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about individuals. Editorial judgement remains human. Cookie consent application is automated technically but reflects choices you explicitly save.
15. Changes to this notice
We update this notice when practices change materially. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision. Substantive changes may also appear as a Desk lane signal. Continued use after notice of changes constitutes acknowledgement for non-consent-based processing where permitted; optional processing always respects refreshed consent choices.

We may request supporting documents before releasing personal data to prevent unauthorised disclosure. Response times follow PDPA guidance for access and correction requests. Our primary audience and hosting jurisdiction is Singapore. Readers accessing the Site from other regions do so at their own initiative. Where local law grants additional privacy rights, we assess requests in good faith but govern processing under Singapore law as stated in our terms. Embassies, researchers, and diaspora readers citing Slate Signal should note that personal data submitted through desk contact is handled in Singapore regardless of where the submitter resides.
19. Record-keeping for verification audit
Editorial verification logs may contain names of sources, officials quoted on record, and desk officers who cleared lines. These logs are internal working documents retained for corrections audit, training, and legal defence. They are not published wholesale. Excerpts may appear in corrections explaining how an error occurred. Request access to your personal data in logs via [email protected]; we balance transparency with protection of confidential source relationships where applicable law permits withholding.
20. Photography and incidental capture
Desk photographers capture street scenes and newsroom activity for publication. Bystanders may appear incidentally in public-space photography. We crop or blur identifying features of private individuals when public interest does not require identification and ground rules support redaction. 21. Relationship to terms and cookies
